Body Found in Surf Near San Clemente Pier
The body of a man was found floating in the surf near the San Clemente Pier early Wednesday, authorities said.
The fully clothed man was about 60 years old. The body was first spotted by a passerby about 7 a.m., said Lt. Colin Murphy of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. An investigator swam to the body and retrieved it.
There were no signs of foul play, “so right now we’re investigating it with the coroner,†Murphy said. “He might have slipped off the pier, walked along the beach and had a heart attack, fell off a boat, or it could have been a suicide.â€
The man’s name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
