The acclaimed Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream†returns this weekend for its sixth consecutive year at the rustic amphitheater in Topanga. The Bard’s classic comedy is well suited for the Theatricum’s hillside-enclosed stage and for the entire family.

Community Event

The “Stop Hate Crime and Gun Violence in Our Valley†parade and concert are slated Sunday at Woodley Avenue Park in Encino. Sponsored by Redeemed From Alcohol and Drugs, the Los Angeles Human Relations Commission, Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and others, the event will begin at 10 a.m. with a parade along Victory Boulevard from Balboa Boulevard to Woodley Avenue, followed by free concerts at the park. Speakers will include Yaroslavsky, L.A. Police Chief Bernard Parks, Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski, Joe Hicks and others.

Western Music

The Autry Museum of Western Heritage will feature concerts of music of the southwest throughout the Labor Day weekend. Serenata Mexicana will perform songs of the west and old Mexico on Saturday; the Lucky Stars do old-time and contemporary western swing Sunday; and the Tejano music of Conjunto los Pochos will be featured Monday.

Cross-Cultural
