Serb Child Hit by Car and Killed in Kosovo; Ethnic Albanian Held

PRISTINA, Yugoslavia — Peacekeeping soldiers detained an ethnic Albanian suspect Sunday after a Serbian child was killed and at least three others injured when a car hit them in Kosovo, the United Nations said.
The incident took place in the village of Skulanovo, about nine miles south of Pristina, the provincial capital, officials at the province’s U.N.-led administration said.
Police were questioning the suspect, who was likely to be charged with vehicular homicide and drunk driving.
The U.N. said it was too early to say whether the killing had been ethnically motivated, but Kosovo’s Serb National Council branded the incident a “terrorist” act.
