Former Mission Viejo High player Stephanie Cox and partner Katy Eldridge upset second-seeded Lisa Arce and Barbra Fontana, 15-6, to advance to today’s winner’s bracket semifinal in the Beach Volleyball America tour stop in San Diego.
Cox and Eldridge, seeded 10th, were joined in the semifinals by top-seeded Annett Davis and Jenny Johnson Jordan, third-seeded Holly McPeak and Leanne Schuster and fourth-seeded Nancy Reno and Elaine Youngs, who won last weekend’s stop in Long Beach.
Also advancing were Karolyn Kirby and Liz Masakayan, the winningest women’s beach volleyball team ever.
