Police Need Help in Identifying Body

NORTH HILLS — Police asked for the public’s help in identifying a young woman whose badly decomposed body was found a week ago in a dirt lot near an automotive repair shop.
The woman, who had been shot, wore an ankle bracelet with a heart-shaped charm inscribed with the name “Judy,” said Sgt. Kristie Romero of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division. The victim was also wearing two gold-colored rings, one with a green stone and the other with a series of white stones.
Workers at the auto shop reported smelling a foul odor in the lot for several weeks before the body was found Aug. 18, Romero said.
The woman, who was either white or Latina, appeared to be between the ages of 18 and 35. She was about 5 feet, 3 inches tall.
Police asked anyone with information about the case to call homicide detectives at (818) 756-8291.
