The city is gearing up for another school year and the traffic hassles that come with it.
One change being made is the addition of a “No U-turn” sign at Street of the Golden Lantern and Paseo de Colinas to reduce traffic around Niguel Middle School. Starting this fall, drivers on the southbound left-turn lane on Golden Lantern will not be allowed to whip around the median from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The change was made because during school mornings, drivers would get around the long line of cars that queue up in the left-turn lane on Golden Lantern, causing delays for those traveling north on the street by making U-turns at Paseo de Colinas.
A sign will be installed at a cost of $200 by week’s end.
