Tests Show McCain’s Cancer Hasn’t Spread
Tests on lymph nodes and tissue removed during Sen. John McCain’s skin cancer surgery confirmed that his melanomas have not spread, his office announced Monday as McCain went home from the hospital. The Arizona senator and former GOP presidential candidate underwent more than five hours of surgery on Saturday to remove two melanomas, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, from his temple and upper arm. Pathologists completed the final review of the tissues around the cancers and found no sign the disease had spread, said Todd Harris, a McCain spokesman. McCain, 63, was released from the Mayo Clinic Hospital and was resting comfortably at his Phoenix home, a statement released by his office said.
