Pizza Parlor to Open at Downtown Site
A pizza parlor is scheduled to open this fall at the former home of the popular downtown coffeehouse the Daily Grind, property owners said Monday.
Matthew Rodman, director of Los Angeles-based Furst Enterprises, said two brothers from Oxnard have signed a multiyear lease for the building at the northeast corner of Main and Santa Clara streets. The coffeehouse closed in February.
“We have had inquiries regularly since the Daily Grind vacated, and thought the pizza shop would be the best use for the community and for the co-tenants,” Rodman said.
“We’re happy to have these guys,” he added. “I really think the pizza shop will be a great use for that street.”
The new tenants, Paul and David Melilli, said they expect to open for business in October.
The owners have also applied for a beer-and-wine license, which must be approved by the Ventura City Council.
