INGLEWOOD — Police Monday were trying to determine what prompted a gunman to riddle a central city neighborhood with bullets, killing a teenage boy and injuring another.
The shooting occurred at 9:50 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of South Osage Avenue, said Officer Anthony Johnson. Daniel Verdugo, 17, was killed and another boy, Juan Rodriguez, 16, suffered a wound to his arm. He was taken to Centinela Hospital Medical Center.
Witnesses saw a man in a late-model car fire numerous shots at the two teenagers as they stood outside an apartment building, Johnson said. A vehicle and two apartment buildings were hit by bullets, but no one else was injured, Johnson said.
