Family of 11 Loses Its Home in Fire
An El Rio family was displaced from their Will Avenue home, which was gutted by a fire Saturday night.
Ventura County firefighters received a call just after 10 p.m. from nearby residents reporting that flames were erupting from a house on the 700 block. The 11-member family was not home at the time of the blaze but arrived shortly after, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The blaze, which took firefighters about an hour to extinguish, caused an estimated $120,000 in damage. There were no injuries and no other homes were affected. Red Cross volunteers were called in to provide the family temporary shelter.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
