The City Council has adopted rules that require residents to store their trash containers out of sight on noncollection days.
“This means trash or garbage
cans, boxes or other such containers must be stored out of public view,” said Jinny Barton, the city’s code-enforcement supervisor. “They must be placed in rear yards or inside trash enclosures where they cannot be seen from the street.”
Trash cans and containers may be set at the curb, but not before 1 a.m. on the day before collection. They must be removed from the curb by midnight on the day trash is collected.
Barton said the requirement was added to the city’s public-nuisance ordinance in response to requests from residents.
