* Young Talent--The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley will hold its annual talent show on Aug. 17. This year’s edition, with a “Fantasy Land!” theme, will include dancing, singing, cheerleading and other performances. The 6:30 p.m. show will be free with the donation of canned food or a clothing item, benefiting local charities. The club is at 2850 Lemon Drive, Simi Valley. 527-4437.

* Cultural--An international festival will be held Aug. 18-20 at Mary Star of the Sea Church, 463 W. Pleasant Valley Road, Oxnard. * Family--The Ojai Family Festival, benefiting the Ojai Birth Resource Family Center, will take place Aug. 19 at the Libbey Bowl. The event will offer live music, theater games, storytelling, craft activities and food. Maria Muldaur of “Midnight at the Oasis” fame will perform her award-winning children’s music and adult-oriented works. Hours: 2-8 p.m. The amphitheater is in downtown Ojai. * Rhythm--A Joyful Noise, an all-female West African percussion group, will perform Aug. 19 at Local Hero Bookstore, 254 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai.
