* Howard Gladys Ula Smith; Retired Teacher
Howard Gladys Ula Smith, a retired teacher, died Friday at her home in Santa Paula after a lengthy illness. She was 87.
She was born June 8, 1913, in Breeding, Ky., and had been a resident of Santa Paula for the past 30 years.
For 15 years, Smith was the treasurer of the Church of the Nazarene in Taft, Calif. Later she taught at the Christian school at the Church of the Nazarene in Santa Paula.
According to her husband, Steve, she had a beautiful singing voice and she made the very best pies and cakes.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her sister, Mini Kihs of Kirby, Ore.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until 9 p.m. at Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary Chapel in Santa Paula.
The funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene in Santa Paula.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula.
