Unmet Transit Needs
* Seniors! Ventura’s city fathers are doubtful that there is anyone left in town but baby boomers and their offspring. They are building skateboard parks, movie houses, seaside amphitheaters and a 100-acre sports park just to entertain their kids and keep them off the streets.
Bike paths and trails are a required element of any development proposed in our fair city, plus the nature trail that runs to Ojai and another that eventually will go all the way to Fillmore.
Four of our six offramps into Ventura are being revamped to attract more visitors--and their wallets.
Now, what does this have to do with seniors? For years, our city and county transportation departments have told us there were no unmet transit needs in this area. All seniors know that this is a fallacy; a convenient transit system is one of our most pressing needs in our daily lives.
The city of Ventura tried to lump us all into the disabled paratransit system, but it has failed to produce. Seniors need their own citywide minibus service.
Please call Ventura City Hall at 654-7827 and tell them, “I need a minibus!”
