Irvine’s Angela Won advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship before falling to Lisa Ferrero of Lodi, 4 and 2, in North Plains, Ore.

Won, who will be a junior at University High, defeated medalist Erica Blasberg of Corona, 2-up, in the quarterfinals. Ina Kim of Encino defeated Violeta Retamoza of Mexico, 3 and 2, in the other semifinal.
