Dean Named at Cal Lutheran
An Ohio educator has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Michael Brint, selected to fill a position that has been open since November, succeeds Jonathan Boe.
“As a teacher, scholar and consultant with a national reputation, Michael brings an extensive network of contacts to help in attracting excellent new faculty and in identifying funding opportunities,” said professor Paul Hanson, chairman of the search committee.
“We believe Michael will be a source of original thinking on curriculum, teaching and faculty development.”
Brint comes from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where he was an associate professor of humane studies.
He also served as chief administrative officer of Laureate Inc., an organization dedicated to improving institutional information and student learning through the use of information technology.
Brint graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1976 and attended the University of Oxford’s Balliol College, where he earned a doctorate in social studies and politics in 1984.
He will teach history and politics when classes open Aug. 29.
