SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
One of five drivers challenging the city’s red-light camera system in court Thursday was found not guilty.
This week’s hearings bring the total number of challenges to the city’s system to about 25, with 12 found guilty.
The cases this week involved tickets issued for alleged violations at the intersections of Del Obispo Street and Ortega Highway, and Del Obispo and Camino Capistrano.
The City Council approved the cameras in October, citing the need to reduce accidents. Police have been issuing citations based on the photos since April.
