Annual Liquidation Sale Looks Like a Solid Bet
During the last few years, the sale-every-weekend practice at some stores somehow takes the wind out of our sales. But here comes one that will reinstate your faith in the word.
Estate Liquidation Sales--or ELS to the regulars--is staging its fourth annual tent sale this coming week, and it’s a big one.
All the items are new, first-quality items. Most are liquidated stock from major chains.
For example, ELS has 55 Little Tykes gyms, which regularly sell for $179, that are marked $75. To keep the kids happy while you shop, hand them a Beanie Baby or two for 99 cents each.
There are 200 pingpong tables from various manufacturers selling for $50 each (retail is usually $200 to $300). The last time ELS had a deal like this on pingpong tables, 50 of them sold in one hour, so go early. A couple of hundred major-brand water softeners that regularly sell for $400 to $700 will be tagged at $100 to $200. A built-in microwave in black will be listed at $125 (retail $400).
Owner Mark Chavat promises that bicycles will be selling for half the usual prices, computer carrying cases (usually $19.99) will be $5 and compactor bags will be $1.99, a big drop from $6.99.
There is also apparel. Speedo swimsuits for women are $7.50 (half the usual price) and $3 for little girls. Some DKNY women’s jeans and sweatshirts will be priced at $7.50. For men, there’ll be a big stack of jeans from various manufacturers at $5 a pair.
The parking lot will be taken up with the merchandise, so you may have to park a block or two away.
Delivery is not available, but they will hold items for later pickup.
Estate Liquidation Sales, 320 W. Chestnut Ave., Monrovia. (626) 357-8449. The tent sale runs Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continues through Aug. 13. Major credit cards. For more bargains, check https://www.bargainsla.com.
