The U.S. warship McClusky, normally home-ported in San Diego, will be docked at the Port Hueneme naval base and open for tours Wednesday at the base’s Wharf 3.
The ship is visiting the Naval Surface Warfare Center for a combat systems check, during which base engineers will evaluate the ship’s ability for warfare.
The ship’s mission is to escort and protect convoys with a variety of missile, gun and anti-submarine systems.
To see the ship, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., enter the naval base through the Pleasant Valley gate and follow the signs to Wharf 3. For more information, call 228-6150.
