Centris Group’s stock tumbled 22.8% Monday, the seventh-largest percentage loss in U.S. markets.
The Costa Mesa insurance holding company has received a request from the New York Stock Exchange for information on unusual market activity in its stock. Centris said its policy is not to comment on such activity or rumors.
The stock fell $2.63 a share to $8.88. A total of 248,100 shares changed hands, six times the average daily volume over the last three months.
Earlier this year, Centris said it was in talks to sell the company, but would not identify potential buyers.
