Please, Coach Hackett, Don’t Penalize Fans

As a USC alum and fan, I watch every game with interest. There is a reason coaches like Bill Parcells and Mike Holmgren consistently lead the league with fewest penalties: Their players are extremely disciplined--and it shows in their respect for the coach and the game. I was outraged by the number of needless, stupid and outright costly penalties attributed to USC against San Diego State.

Coach Hackett, USC has set a torrid pace in recent years in penalties. Take the narrow win against the Aztecs as a warning: If the penalties don’t subside, it will cost you important games. It is the single most important issue the team is facing and will continue to face. Don’t let us be known as “Penalty U.”
