The City Council will meet tonight to consider installing cameras at six intersections to identify motorists who run lights. The city would hire SENSYS Traffic to set up the system with no upfront costs; the company would collect $59 per citation. The current fine for running a red light is $271, of which the city receives $141.80. Similar systems have been operating in San Diego, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
