Generation X

* It is a shame Jeff Softley’s (letter, Sept. 9) admirable role as an environmental and labor activist has so soured him on my (and his) entire generation. One does not have to be a political activist to make a difference or leave a mark. The Gen-Xers I know, the same group of people for which Softley has “nothing but contempt,” are active, productive members of society. They care about the world they live in and are involved in their communities. None are the aloof cynics Softly accuses them of being.
