Road Is Not Kind to San Diego State

The Trojans have said goodbye to their bye week.
“Now we’ve got 11 straight weeks, an 11-week run. No more cushion,” Coach Paul Hackett said. “I just liked having the week to relax and take a deep breath and get the schoolwork all settled. All that has been good.”
Next up at the Coliseum, San Diego State, a team USC defeated last season, 35-6.
“I think they’re a much-improved team,” Hackett said of the Aztecs, who are 1-1 after a 41-12 victory over South Florida and a 38-10 loss at Illinois.
“They have a quarterback who’s a lot more seasoned than he was a year ago. They’ve got virtually their entire defense back.”
Still, San Diego State hasn’t won a nonconference road game since a 1981 victory over Nevada Las Vegas, a streak of 25 games.
