Ventura County native Katherine C. Butler died Friday after a brief illness. She was 84.
Born Christmas Day 1914 in Oxnard, Butler attended Santa Clara High School in Oxnard and Ventura College.
She moved to San Francisco, where she owned a beauty salon in that city’s downtown for 30 years. When she retired in 1992, she returned to Ventura.
Butler was an avid golfer and a member of the Harding Park Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her brother, Howard McDonald of Ventura; her sister, Geraldine McDonald of Ventura, and six nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main St. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road.
