A fire in Palmdale forced closure of one lane on Highway 14 late Friday afternoon, backing up traffic for miles and turning the trip to Lancaster into a three-hour odyssey.
The Seraphs, who left Ventura at 3:15 p.m., arrived at Antelope Valley College after 6 p.m.
