I fully agree with Robert Hilburn that Cher’s material is inferior. She is not the only major rock star who is guilty in this respect. I feel the same way about Tina Turner and others. There is no excuse for performers with their money and influence to be devoid of good music.
I would like to ask those who disagree with Hilburn (Saturday Letters, Aug. 28) the following question: If Cher’s music is so memorable, why does one never hear anyone humming a Cher tune or see other artistes “covering” (doing their own performances of) her songs?
