Laguna Beach 49, La Quinta 7--Senior Pat Chesley rushed for three touchdowns and 213 yards to lead the visiting Artists at Bolsa Grande Stadium.

Laguna Beach converted a fumble recovery by Anil Adam on La Quinta’s 37-yard line into a quick 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. Chesley’s 35-yard run capped a three-play, 46-yard drive.

With less than a minute left in the first quarter, senior Jack Arnold scored the first of his three touchdowns, a three-yard plunge. Arnold then scored another from two yards. Chesley ran in from 14 yards out and Arnold scored on another three-yard run to build a 36-0 halftime lead.

Laguna Beach also held La Quinta without a first down in the first half.

“The guys were focused despite not playing at full strength,” Laguna Beach Coach Dave Holland said. Eight projected starters for Laguna Beach were out of the game because of injuries, academic ineligibility and disciplinary reasons.
