Huntington Beach 25, Downey 21--Huntington Beach built an 18-0 lead, overcame a dozen penalties and held off a Downey comeback at Huntington Beach High.

The first quarter showed signs of a potential blowout, as a three-yard Downey punt set up a 32-yard touchdown run by Shaun Shuck and a Shuck interception launched a 13-play scoring drive that resulted in a 15-0 Oiler lead.

Downey took a 21-18 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Shuck, who finished with 158 yards rushing in addition to a 63-yard kickoff return, had the last word. The senior scored his third touchdown on a one-yard sweep with 4:25 remaining to give Huntington Beach a 25-21 lead.
