CALIFORNIA : Gap Names Apple’s Jobs to Its Board
Gap Inc. on Thursday said it appointed Steven Jobs to the 12-member board of the No. 3 U.S. clothing chain.
Jobs, 44, co-founder of Apple Computer Inc., is Apple’s interim chief executive. Jobs also co-founded Pixar Inc. and is chief executive of the animation studio, which created movies such as “Toy Story” and “A Bug’s Life.”
San Francisco-based Gap sells clothing, accessories and personal-care products through its Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy stores. The company has more than 2,600 stores worldwide.
Shares of Gap, which had sales of $9.1 billion for the year ended Jan. 30, fell 69 cents to close at $35.44 on the New York Stock Exchange.
