Sara Jane Olson

Re “Old Charges, New Identity for Olson,” Sept. 1:

I fail to see the journalistic justification for including in this item about Sara Jane Olson’s impending trial a large image from a Web site hostile to her and three paragraphs describing the “features” of the site. I’m sure satirical Web sites can be found that are hostile to many newsworthy figures. Will they now be part of every news story?

In this case, the site’s operators were not contacted--the questionable “source” given was simply “Internet.” Too frequently the “democracy” of the Net seems simply to mean a lowering of the level of discourse.
