The City Council will meet tonight to consider a grant application to fund improvements to the Vereda Bikeway crossing at the railroad crossing near San Juan Creek. The $1,489,755 project would call for the construction of a new rail bridge with a bike trail under-crossing. The crossing is the final link in an off-road bikeway beginning in Doheny State Beach and currently ending at Avenida Siego and Calle Arroyo in San Juan Capistrano.
