It has been a revelation reading the recent series of articles by T.J. Simers concerning the NFL returning to the L.A. market.
T.J. writing a column that is informative? Unbelievable! T.J. writing a column that is newsworthy? Incredible! T.J. actually writing a column that is readable? Truly amazing!
Not only were these columns all of the above, but T.J. even sided with the consensus of L.A. football fans in coming out against a publicly funded L.A. franchise.
I was astounded. Had T.J. turned over a new leaf?
Alas, after glancing at T.J.’s drivel of a column in Thursday’s “Football ‘99” section I could only conclude that Simers’ columns against the NFL in L.A. were only self-serving. For if L.A. had a pro football team, The Times would certainly need a “pro” football writer and T.J. would definitely be out of a job.
