OUTLOOK
The Falcons will challenge for a playoff berth and they may be even better defensively this season after giving up 14 or fewer points in six games last season. Fatu leads that unit and he already has caught the attention of many Pac-10 recruiters. “He’s such an aggressive player,” Steward said. “He’s a throwback, like Dick Butkus, a ruthless linebacker.” Guevara and Zepeda are two other linebackers highlighting the defense. Offensively, Guerrero returns at quarterback with some experienced receivers. Barragan started at receiver and also returned kicks, including one for a touchdown last season.
