OUTLOOK
The defense has a solid nucleus and is the least of Gibson’s worries. There’s more unproven talent this year, but Delaney, Grijalva, Valentine and Harris, a Times all-county player, provide more game-breaking speed than the Warriors had last season. Don’t expect a drop-off in Woodbridge’s outstanding line play, though Nienhuis is the only returning starter on the offensive front. Ultimately, Woodbridge’s success probably depends on Pearson, the quarterback. His off-season improvement convinced Gibson the team was better with Pearson at quarterback than rotating Harris and Delaney at the position. If Pearson handles the job, Harris and Delaney would be freed up as ball-carrying weapons.
