OUTLOOK
The Sailors missed the playoffs after reaching the semifinals three of the previous four years, but don’t expect that to happen this season. The inexperienced defensive line is a concern, but Kalanz and Craig moved there from linebacker “and they move very well,” Brinkley said. The secondary and linebackers are solid, along with an outstanding offensive line that includes two really big guys, Jones and Cole. Behind them, Brill and Stewart should find running room to ease the pressure on the untested quarterback, either Gaeta (from Edison) or Manderino. Clayton (25 receptions, 19.5 yards per catch), Jacobs (22 receptions) Peterson and Smith are as talented as any group of Sailor receivers, Brinkley said.
