OUTLOOK
Holland’s three victories in 1998 were three more than his previous two years combined. The Artists hope to reach another milestone this season by making the playoffs for the first time since 1987. With its top three skill players--Chesley, Loidolt and Schissler--back, as well as Arnold’s transfer from a private school in Northern California, Laguna Beach should be taken seriously. “A lot of these kids played as sophomores, when we didn’t win a game,” Holland said. “But this season, we can be in every ballgame, I think.” Griswold came into the program as a skinny offensive guard, but his speed is better suited for wide receiver. In addition to adding Arnold, the Artists also get a lift from Murphy, who sat out last season after playing as a sophomore. Holland expects his team to throw about half the time out of its one-back offense.
