First-year Coach Ron Gueringer of Crespi wasn’t particularly pleased when three potential starters transferred to other schools, but during two-a-day drills, the Celts picked up a possible starting quarterback, transfer Jamie DiPoma from Newbury Park.
DiPoma, a senior, was a reserve quarterback for the Panthers. He didn’t figure to play much after the arrival of transfer Chris Lombardo from St. Bonaventure.
At Crespi, DiPoma is competing against Alex Park, a senior volleyball player who hasn’t played football since he was a freshman.
“He’s looking good,” assistant coach Richard Fong said of DiPoma.

As if Alemany needs another offensive weapon with the likes of quarterback Casey Clausen and running back De’Andre Scott, the Indians have high hopes for improving junior kicker Garret Marxen.
Marxen spent the summer going to kicking camps and working on his own. Coach Jim Bonds saw the improvement first hand when Marxen drilled a 49-yard field goal under pressure during practice.

Chaminade has become a school known for producing tight ends. The Eagles have three former tight ends playing college football--Gabe Crecion at UCLA, Steve Racius at Villanova and Peter Foy at Liberty.
Don’t be surprised if sophomore Jesse Taylor becomes the next top Eagle tight end. The 6-2, 190-pounder has excellent speed and agility.
“He grows every gosh darn day,” assistant coach Ted Corcoran said.
