*** Nydia Rojas, “Si Me Conocieras,” Hollywood. Half of the L.A.-based mariachi prodigy’s first album with a major, non-Latino label (due in stores Tuesday) is spent exploring a lustrous hybrid between mariachi and Latin pop. The results are pleasant enough, but not as powerful as her gutsy delivery of more rootsy material, such as “El Jaripeo” and “La Retirada,” on which the 19-year-old singer showcases a visceral understanding of the material. A raucous duet with Fastball’s Miles Zuniga and a few original compositions add zest to a record that finds its true voice during its more authentic mariachi moments.
