** Montell Jordan, “Get It On . . . Tonite,” Island/Def Jam.
Anyone who has followed Jordan’s career since his 1995 smash “This Is How We Do It” expects in-your-face fun, originality and presence from this L.A. native. That he also had a hand in writing Deborah Cox’s career-launching R&B; hit “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” only upped the stakes. This album is surprisingly puny in scope from someone with such giant-size ability.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent). The albums are already released unless otherwise noted.
