Some teachers at Lexington Junior High may be less than thrilled that their students raised $61,000 this month in the annual Fit-A-Thon fund-raiser, because the 334 students who reached their goals will get to throw a pie at their teacher’s face.
Students secured pledges for the amount of push-ups, sit-ups, laps or jump roping they could do. One student, Whitney Pelayo, jumped rope for five minutes straight. The funds will pay for a portable stage for the school gymnasium.
