Diluted Wine

Re “Makers of Box Wine Dilute Product and Spike Profit,” Oct. 20: So wine-producing giants Canandaigua and Gallo are defending the practice of using water and other additives in their box or jug wines while still calling them Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon.

How do I know that wine bottled under the more expensive Turning Leaf, Gossamer Bay or Gallo of Sonoma labels (all Gallo) don’t contain these same additions? These wine makers are willing to fight to keep us in the dark.

Tonight, I’ll have a bourbon. I’ll add my own water, thank you.
