Blachford Is Controller at Irvine-Based Meyers
Jennifer Blachford is the new controller at the Meyers Group, an Irvine-based provider of new-home real estate information and consulting services. Before joining the company, Blachford was controller for Mossimo Inc. She also has been a senior accountant with AirTouch Cellular and an auditor for Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Wayne L. Blair, chief financial officer of Research Engineers Inc. in Yorba Linda, has also been named senior vice president of finance. He has been chief financial officer since 1997. Before that, he was chief financial officer for National Electronics Corp. Stephen W. Owen was appointed senior vice president, Europe, the Middle World and Africa. He had been managing director of European operations since 1989.

Shelby Brewer has joined the board of directors of Nurescell Inc. in Newport Beach. Brewer was in the Reagan administration from 1981-85 as assistant secretary of energy. He also was president and chief executive of Combustion Engineering’s nuclear business unit. After the company was acquired by ABB Inc., Brewer was elected chairman, president and chief executive of ABB-Combustion Engineering-NP, a business unit.

Don Fraser has been appointed vice president of Nexus Construction Services and will be in charge of tenant improvement construction operations. Fraser has worked at the Koll Co., Snyder-Langston and Innerspace Constructors. He had previously joined Nexus in 1985.

William C. Cray has joined the law firm of Levin & Hawes in Laguna Beach. He was formerly chief patent counsel at Rockwell Semiconductor Systems Inc. and Analog Devices Inc., and was semiconductor operations group counsel at Digital Equipment Corp. Donald L. Abrams has joined the firm as counsel. Formerly, Abrams was assistant U.S. attorney for the Department of Justice, and special attorney with the U.S. Organized Crime Strike Force in Connecticut. He has served as chief executive of Three D Departments Inc. and owns a real estate brokerage firm in Newport Beach.

Michael Grabendike has joined Essex Realty Management Inc. in Costa Mesa as senior vice president. He had been a senior vice president and Los Angeles district manager. In his new position, Grabendike will be responsible for development and acquisition opportunities, securing capital sources and marketing. In addition, Susan Harris has been appointed a senior property manager in charge of the company’s Inland Empire commercial real estate portfolio. She was formerly with Martin & Associates, a property management company in Corona.

Thomas Christie, Carl DiNicola and Michael Gottlieb have been named partners in the Orange County practice of Ernst & Young LLP. Christie joined the firm in 1985 and was previously in the Phoenix office and national office. DiNicola, in the state and local tax practice, joined Ernst & Young in 1992. Gottlieb is in the assurance and advisory business services practice, specializing in retail, distribution and manufacturing industries.

Thomas Iwanski has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president, corporate development and chief operating officer of Prolong International Corp. in Irvine. He was previously vice president of finance, chief financial officer and secretary of NetVantage Inc. Iwanski has also been vice resident of finance, chief financial officer, assistant secretary and a member of the board of directors of Computer Marketplace Inc., and corporate controller of Wahlco Environmental Systems Inc.

Kenneth Glesener and Michael Blumberg have been appointed to the position of vice president and banking officer in the sales and service division of Citizens Business Bank’s Orange County region. Blumberg was formerly vice president and commercial loan officer with Southern California Bank, and vice president reviewing loan documents with Manufacturers Bank in Los Angeles. Glesener was previously vice president in the corporate banking division of Sanwa Bank and owner of Financial Concepts, a consulting firm for small business.

David S. Weisenthal has been named to the newly created position of vice president of marketing for ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc. in San Juan Capistrano. He had been director of marketing since 1998. Before that, Weisenthal was vice president, marketing at US Labs in Irvine, and spent seven years at Irvine-based Oncotech Inc., where he was director, corporate marketing.

Beth Cantrell has been appointed to the board of directors of the International Map Trade Assn. in Washington, D.C. Cantrell is executive director of the Thomas Bros. Maps Education Foundation in Irvine.
