Charismatic’s Owners at Luncheon
Bob and Beverly Lewis, owners of Silver Charm and Charismatic, horses that nearly won the Triple Crown in two of the last three years, and jockey Kent Desormeaux will speak at the Sports Newsmakers Luncheon today at the Arrowhead Pond.
Silver Charm won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness before losing at the Belmont Stakes in 1997. Charismatic followed the same path this year. Silver Charm received the Eclipse Award as the top 3-year-old in 1997.
Desormeaux guided Real Quiet to victories in the 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness before losing by a nose to Victory Gallop in the Belmont.
The luncheon, which is open to the public, begins at noon. Cost is $15 in advance, $20 at the door and reservations are suggested. They can be made by calling (714) 758-0222.
