No. 10 Laguna Beach Defeats No. 5 Oilers
Kellie Cramm had 19 kills to lead 10th-ranked Laguna Beach to a 17-19, 15-11, 15-6, 15-6 victory over No. 5 Huntington Beach in a nonleague girls’ volleyball match Monday at Huntington Beach.
Lauralee Neptune and Sarah Salem contributed eight kills each for the Artists (5-5).
Kelly Brockman had 15 kills for Huntington Beach (8-2).
In another nonleague match:
Estancia 3, Santa Ana 1--Lauren Cassidy had eight kills to lead host Estancia (2-4), which won 15-11, 15-9, 4-15, 15-9.
Mary Cadena had seven aces for Santa Ana (4-7).
In South Coast League golf:
Trabuco Hills 144, Capistrano Valley 163--Junior Crystal Romero shot an 11-over 47 to win medalist honors and lead host Trabuco Hills (3-4 in league) at Tijeras Creek.
In Century League girls’ golf:
No. 3 Villa Park 131, El Modena 180--Sophomore Priscilla Park shot a two-over 38 for host Villa Park (10-4, 6-0) at Green River.
In the Serra League:
Rosary 126, No. 6 Santa Margarita 127--Senior Lisa Ramsey shot her lowest round, a seven-over 41, to lead Rosary (6-7, 5-3) at Fullerton. The Royals have won five consecutive matches.
In nonleague girls’ golf
No. 4 Marina 279, Estancia 308--Courtney Goebel medaled, shooting eight-over 80, at Meadowlark and Mesa Verde.
No. 7 Newport Harbor 129, Mission Viejo 143--Sophomore Kelly Hunt made two birdies and shot a two-over 37, for host Newport Harbor (11-0), at Costa Mesa Mesa Linda.
In Olympic League girls’ tennis:
Whittier Christian 12, Brethren Christian 6--Kim Ferreira swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-2, to lead visiting Whittier Christian (3-11, 2-8).
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Palos Verdes Peninsula 14, No. 3 Mater Dei 4--Melissa Esmero swept 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, for visiting Mater Dei (10-2).
In pool play at the Estancia boys’ water polo tournament:
Saddleback 11, Estancia 5--Jose Montes, Jorge Ordaz, and Ulysses Bernal scored three goals each for visiting Saddleback (12-2).
