Bruce Babbitt
Do we know how much Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt’s legal bills will total as a consequence of his defense in the independent counsel’s investigation that cleared him (Oct. 14)?
Are there any provisions for reimbursing a government official’s legal fees when he is exonerated after an independent counsel’s investigation?
Why do we seem to be so unconcerned when an innocent official is forced to incur expenses in the six-figure range, impoverishment and possible bankruptcy, when he is blameless and innocent of any wrongdoing?
There should be a law.
