Modano’s Goal Gives Stars Tie With Bruins

Mike Modano, taking a cross-ice pass from Brett Hull, scored the tying goal with less than six minutes left in regulation as the Dallas Stars kept the Boston Bruins winless by salvaging a 2-2 tie Friday night at Dallas.

Carolina 4, Vancouver 1--Ron Francis had an assist to tie Mario Lemieux for sixth place on the NHL career points list in helping the Hurricanes win at Vancouver. Hurricane goaltender Eric Fichaud made his first start in over 10 months.

Toronto 2, Chicago 1--Glenn Healy stopped 25 of 26 shots as the Maple Leafs, without injured center Mats Sundin, won at Chicago.

Vancouver goaltender Garth Snow is out indefinitely because of a broken index finger on his right (blocking) hand suffered Wednesday against Calgary. . . . Philadelphia acquired right wing Jody Hull from the Atlanta Thrashers for future considerations. Hull, with the Flyers last season, was selected by the Thrashers in the expansion draft.
