Campbell Hall 51, St. Margaret’s 27--Sophomore Matt Kaplan completed eight of 14 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns for the Vikings in an Academy League victory at Birmingham High.
Derrick Williams caught three passes--all for touchdowns--from Kaplan for 151 yards.
Williams, a 6-1 freshman, also had two interceptions, returning one 55 yards for a touchdown with 47 seconds left in the first half. That gave the Vikings (3-3, 1-0) a 22-7 lead.
The Campbell Hall defense, behind lineman Chris Cook’s two sacks, forced the Tartans into five turnovers, converting four into scores.
Andreas Werner had 110 yards and two touchdowns in 16 carries for St. Margaret’s (2-4, 0-1).
Sophomore J.D. Washington, son of actor Denzel Washington, led Vikings rushing attack with 50 yards in nine carries and a touchdown.
