SAN CLEMENTE
The City Council recently authorized installation of a smoke detector system at the Community Center on the recommendation of a safety consultant who inspected the facility.
South Coast Fire Protection will install the system, which will provide an early warning in the event of a fire. The detectors will be monitored 24 hours a day by an off-site company.
The system carries a price tag of nearly $24,000, which was already budgeted in the 1999-2000 city budget for improvements.
