Beach Report
Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park in Oxnard has been declared unsafe for swimming this weekend after excessive bacteria were detected in the surf, the county Environmental Health Division announced Thursday.
Signs warning people to stay out of the water have been posted on the sand.
Swimmers and waders should stay at least 50 yards away from each side of the signs, officials advised.
Weekly beach testing occurs at 53 locations in Ventura County, and results can be obtained by calling the county’s ocean water quality hotline at 662-6555 or visiting the Web site at www.ventura.org/env_hlth/ocean.htm.
